It is our second day in Rio de Janeiro. So far the experience has been fantastic. In the morning, we had our first class in Escola De Artes. Immediately, we noticed the fine architecture and the surrounding greenery. During class, we learned about the basics of sketching and did a few exercises. We also heard about the different plant ecosystems around the world, and some students gave their presentations on the artist they chose. After class, we went to a restaurant where we ate a filling meal. To end our excursion, we sketched several scenes and plants in the Jardim Botanico. Everybody enjoyed the park because we have never seen such different types of flora and fauna. Overall, we are grateful to have had this opportunity to study in Brazil because it has brought us immediate gratitude. It has not been too hard to adjust to the culture because the people here have similarities to those in the United States. The only problem we are having so far is dealing with the language barrier. We are looking forward to the upcoming weeks
